The former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, prof. Wajeeh Owais delivered an online lecture titled "From the Heart of the Event: The Use of Technology in Education", about the usage of technology in education. He stated that despite the controversy about the competence of online learning, Jordan has proved its ability to deploy technology to continue its educational mission during coronavirus and similar emergent circumstances.  Prof. Owais pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II's instructions regarding instituting a modern Jordanian educational system have always been clear and encouraging, thus providing educational institutions with the necessary guidelines to qualify students to compete in the world market. He added that His Majesty decreed for the formation of a committee of human resources development concerning e-learning and that that committee was formulated accordingly, held more than one meeting, and submitted its recommendations and suggestions to the Council of Ministers. Towards the end of his speech, Prof. Owais expressed his thanks to the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Amal Nsair, for her interaction with events and her constant quest to hold such online meetings that discuss important topics directly related to students' service.

In her turn, Nsair said that the deanship of students affairs continues its online programs and activities that aim at communicating with university students during the Coronavirus crisis. Finally, she expressed her thanks to Prof. Wajeeh Owais for his response to the call of the Deanship to talk about an important topic that is of interest to the entire Jordanian community.

Reflecting the directives of Yarmouk University President, Prof. Zeidan Kafafi, regarding the need to improve the process of online learning and enhance the university's experience in this field, the Center of Accreditation and Quality Assurance at the University organized four training workshops for faculty members from different departments at the university.

Dr. Abdullah Khataybeh, the director of the Center, explained that such courses are held in the university labs on campus and that each session includes ten faculty members in accordance with the defense orders of social distancing. He then explained that holding these training workshops aims at enhancing the skills of faculty members in the field of distance education, thus making them ready to start the summer semester online without challenging the same obstacles experienced during the last second semester.

Aiming at opening horizons of exchange of experiences for the institutionalization of work between the two sides, Yarmouk University, represented by Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies, signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Committee for Women’s Affairs. Such an exchange will help implement the activities of the training program for members of elected councils in the North Region (governorate, municipal, and local councils) at Yarmouk University. The activities will be implemented in their first stage in partnership with the Hayvos Foundation –“Women Empowerment for Leadership Project in Trade and Professional Syndicates and Political Parties”.

Kafafi stressed that the committee’s officials and Yarmouk University, represented by Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies, are all keen to support and implement the goal of empowering, training, and refining women skills in order to qualify them to claiming leadership positions. This in return will contribute to their experiences and knowledge and will eventually contribute to the development of the Jordanian society and motivate Jordanian women in all regions of the Kingdom to strive for their own self-development. Also, he expressed the university's readiness to be the host for such a training program. Then he talked about the possibility of hosting participants in the program at Yarmouk University to promote a participatory approach and develop relationships with members of the local community, pointing out that serving the local community is one of the main goals of the university.

In turn, Shreddem thanked Yarmouk University for its permanent cooperation with the National Committee for Women’s Affairs, which seeks to promote the integration of gender equality measures through planning national policies and programs. She explained that the Committee adopts a gender equality mechanism in recognition of the importance of gender equality and women's empowerment in achieving national priorities. She then praised the great steps taken by Yarmouk University in the field of supporting women and enabling them to gain access to academic and administrative leadership positions at the university itself.

Noteworthy that this meeting was attended by Prof. Anis Khasawneh, Vice President of Administrative Affairs, the Director of Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women, Dr. Amna Khasawneh, and a number of university officials and officials from the National Committee for Women Affairs.

The Director of the Department of Public Relations and Media, the Official Spokesman of Yarmouk University, Mr. Mukhles Al-Abini confirmed that the university, under the exceptional circumstances of Corona virus, is working through its various departments and human cadres to continue professional planning and achievements.He declared that in accordance with the instructions articulated by the President of the University, Prof. Zeidan Kafafi, Yarmouk University sets the safety of its students at the top of its priorities, whether they are Jordanians or expatriates, including those of cultural exchange programs.

In this regard, the Director of the Department of International Relations and Projects, Dr. Muwaffaq Al-Otoom, indicated that based on the university's comprehensive plan to deal with this Corona-crisis-based conditions and under the direct guidance of the President of the University Prof. Zeidan Kafafi, the Department is following up with all students, especially those visiting the university within the international exchange programs, regarding their life conditions and concerns.

Al-Otoom added that YU is hosting 29 students from nine European countries through the Erasmus+ European program and 11 students from Turkey through the Turkish Mawlana program. The University, as he explained, is keeping contacting with those students through different means and is always observing their life conditions.

The President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Zeidan Kafafi had a meeting with Dr. Ivano Patrick and Dr. Jean-Michel Chappeau from the French University of Sorbonne, and Dr. Gerald Bayer from the French University of Angers, where ways to enhance cooperation between the three universities were discussed. Kafafi praised the depth of relations that bring together Yarmouk at the French embassy in Amman as well as the various French universities, institutes, and educational institutions. He expressed Yarmouk's readiness to discuss the mechanisms for establishing a joint program in hotel management with these two prestigious universities, as such a join program will attract a number of faculty members from France to participate in teaching courses for the students of the program. He added that Yarmouk seeks with all its cadres to overcome obstacles of creating international programs that meet the aspirations of Jordanian and Arab youth. He then added that this program will contribute effectively to upgrading the hotel sector in Jordan and improving hotel services in the country.

In return, the members of the delegation expressed the importance of establishing such a joint program with Yarmouk University, which has a distinguished scientific reputation in the field of tourism and archeology. They explained that signing a cooperation agreement in this regard is beneficial for the involving parties. However, the meeting was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Prof. Muhammad Al-Shannaq, the dean of scientific research, Prof. Qassem Al-Hammouri, the director of the Department of International Relations and Projects, Dr. Mowaffaq Al-Atoum, and the director of Public Relations and Media Department, Mr. Mukhlis Al-Abeini.
